The down side of getting a lot done
This past weekend, I wrote THIS post and THIS post about getting a lot done and invited you to work on your own tasks as well.
Sometimes, I'm able to be extremely productive over a couple of days with minimal negative impact on the days that follow. Other times, not so much.
This is one of those other times.
Today, I had a list of tasks I wanted to accomplish before work, during my breaks and lunch, and after work. Instead of doing any of them, I just barely managed to take care of my dog and a dog that I was babysitting today. And, I just barely got through my day regular work day.
I woke up feeling absolutely drained--possibly from excessive bad dreams driven by the current news cycle mixed with warmer than usual weather--and slept in until I absolutely had to get up in order to take my dog to go potty and to be back at my desk on time for work.
I didn't do anything on either of my breaks or my lunch other than the bare minimum which included taking my dog and her doggie friend out for their potty breaks.
After work, I had planned to tackle my list of tasks, but was so tired that my ten minute rest ended up being almost a three hour nap. And, I'm still tired and ready to go to bed for the night.
In the morning, I have a follow up appointment with my primary care doctor and on the following day, I have a an appointment with a naturopath. Seeing both seems to be bringing more answers regarding my chronic symptoms than seeing just one or the other.
Fatigue has long been an issue for me, so I should not have been surprised to be so tired today after being so productive on Saturday and Sunday! Yet, every time I'm super productive, I forget that I'll have a day or two of utter exhaustion, joint and muscle and bone pain, and more (please don't try to diagnose me--I am working with my providers closely).
Do you have negative after effects of extra productive days? How do you cope?
Thankfully, other than dog care and my day job, I did not have anything extremely pressing today that could not be done from the comfort of my couch or bed and with just my laptop. The one task I DID get done today that didn't involve my day job or dogs was to review a medical school personal statement for a tutoring student.
